Indian Launch of the HOICL Project

New Delhi, 24-25 February 2016

The completion of the HOICL Project (‘Historical Origins of International Criminal Law’) was marked with a book launch and lecture hosted by the Indian Law Institute in New Delhi on 25 February 2016. The event was presided over by the Honourable Mr. Justice Madan B. Lokur (Judge, Supreme Court of India), with remarks by Professor Manoj Kumar Sinha (Director, Indian Law Institute). Following the presentation of the four volumes of Historical Origins of International Criminal Law, Professor Morten Bergsmo (Peking University Law School) gave the lecture ‘On Asian Regional Leadership in the Field of International Criminal Law’.

The preceding day, Norway’s Ambassador to India, Mr. Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg, held a dinner on the occasion of the completion of the HOICL Project for distinguished Indian international lawyers and co-operation partners of CILRAP in India. Ambassador Narinder Singh, Chairman of the International Law Commission, spoke during a programme prior to the dinner. In his remarks, Professor Bergsmo described some of CILRAP’s upcoming projects of relevance to Indian actors.

The second HOICL conference took place in New Delhi on 29-30 November 2014.
